Effects of Cervi Cornu, Ginseng Radix and Ganodermae Lignum Aqua-acupuncture on Immune Response

Abstract
In order to investigate the effects of Cervi Cornu (C. C.), Ginseng Radix (G. R.) and Ganodermae Lignum (G. L.) aqua-acupuncture on immune response, C. C., G. R. and G. L. aqua-acupuncture solution prepared by wateralcohol method were
aqua-punctured
daily for 11 days into the bilateral loci corresponding Choksamni (ST36) of the human body to ICR mouse and methotrexate (MTX) was administered daily for 4 days from the 7th experimental day.
Contact hypersensitivity (CS) and delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) for cell-mediated immune response, hemagglutinin (HA) titer and hemolysin (HL) titer for humoral immune response, interleukin-2 (IL-2) productivity and phagocytic activity of
macrophages were measured. And in view of tumor-immunity, splenic natural killer cell activity (NKCA) was also measured.
@ES The results were summarized as follows:
@EN 1) CS was increased with the statistical significance in the G. R. and G. L. aqua-acupuncture groups as compared with the control group.
2) DTH was increased with the statistical significance in the C. C. and G. R. aqua-acupuncture groups as compared with the control group.
3) HA titer was increased with the statistical significance in every experimental group as compared with the control group.
4) HL titer was increased with the statistical significance in every experimental group as compared with the control group.
5) IL-2 productivity was increased with the statistical significance in the G. R. and G. L. aqua-acupuncture groups as compared with the control group.
6) Phagocytic activity was increased in every experimental group as compared with the control group.
7) NKCA was increased in every experimental group at the ratio of effector cell/target cell with 100:1, but at the ratio of effector cell/traget cell with 50:1, it was increased in G. R. and G. L. aqua-acupuncture groups as compared with the
control
group.
